Best Denver Area Courses for Young Golfers

The Mile High City offers a spectacular backdrop for growing the next generation of golfers. Introducing kids to golf here is less about perfecting a swing right away and more about enjoying the beautiful outdoors together. Finding which Denver Area courses best fit your child’s current skill level is the key to keeping those early rounds fun, engaging, and completely stress free.

Finding the Right Course for Every Stage

To help young players build real confidence, it is best to choose facilities that offer a good balance of challenge and playability. Selecting the right Denver Area course makes all the difference when children are just starting out.

  • The Skill Builders: Wellshire Golf Course provides a classic, historic setting where kids can practice on lush fairways. For players ready to learn course management with a mix of hazards, Broken Tee Golf Course offers fantastic options to transition from a short par 3 to a longer 9-hole setup.
  • Stepping Up to Big Courses: When your player is ready for more expansive fairways, City Park Golf Course combines a high-quality layout with beautiful skyline views. Heading East into Aurora, courses like Murphy Creek and Saddle Rock provide wide open links style play, while Meadow Hills offers a fun, traditional tree lined challenge with great practice facilities.

By exploring these specific Denver Area courses, you can easily match the difficulty of the play to your child’s developing skills.

How Our Programs Work

To help families navigate these locations, First Tee – Colorado Rocky Mountains offers structured, age-appropriate classes designed for all skill levels. Whether your child is picking up a club for the first time or is preparing for high school tournaments, our progression-based programs support them every step of the way.

  • Ages 4 to 6 (Level I): Extremely active, high energy, and play-based sessions with very little lecturing. The goal here is simple: associate the golf course with pure fun.
  • Ages 7 to 11 (Levels I to III): Programs transition into basic athletic concepts, fundamental swing mechanics, and course etiquette. Advanced players in this group can qualify for Level III classes to begin playing competitive, strategic rounds.
  • Ages 12 and Up: Perfect for pre-teens and teenagers looking to sharpen their game, prepare for tournament series, or transition into youth leadership opportunities within the sport.

Our sessions typically run in six-weeks blocks, and equipment is always provided for those who need it. To make practice even more accessible, we also feature specialized junior courses, like Hogan’s Alley at Wellshire and Katie’s Course at Willis Case, where our students can practice on a smaller, kid-friendly scale.

Mentorship On and Off the Green

While picking the perfect Denver Area course is important, having a supportive community to guide youth golfers makes all the difference.  We believe that golf is one of the greatest tools for character development, since the sport teaches core values like integrity, respect, and perseverance alongside the physical game.

Our structured programs are specifically designed to help young golfers build confidence and social skills at their own pace. We operate directly out of these fantastic local facilities, including City Park, Wellshire, Overland, Willis Case, and the Aurora courses to make the game affordable and accessible for all families.
