Programming In-Schools

Because of the positive word of mouth that schools are giving First Tee - Denver and its programs, P.E. teachers have invited the staff to work with their students on golf skills and life skills. 31 different schools participate in this program. This programming gives students exposure during their school day to different adult mentors and different sport skill sets.

Read 'n' Swing

The Read ‘N’ Swing Program is a simple concept that gets results. Students read with staff and volunteers. The instructor to student ratio is no more than 2:1 for this program. After quality reading time students participate in a golf activity. By encouraging reading outside of a traditional classroom setting, students begin to associate academics with life outside of school. By providing caring, engaged mentors to read with and be encouraged by, students improve and become more confident in their reading skills. Generally, First Tee - Denver will work with the same kids for an entire school year.

Club Building

In this innovative six-week program students build two brand new golf clubs to take home. When the sparks fly as a club shaft is being cut, excitement is in the air and the students forget that they are learning essential math skills. Building clubs gives the kids a precise pattern where they can graph expected ball flight distances associated with club head weight and loft. Furthermore, the children take measurements for the proper length to custom fit the club to their own height. Club making gives the kids a sense of ownership for something they have created and something new. The curriculum emphasizes math, reading and science skills while the kids find appreciation of and motivation to learn a new sport.

In-School Physical Education Programming

Because of the positive word of mouth that schools are giving First Tee - Denver and its programs, P.E. teachers have invited the staff to work with their students on golf skills and life skills. This programming gives students exposure during their school day to different adult mentors and different sport skill sets. Engaging fun games have been created for tight gymnasium spaces or playgrounds to help students learn golf skills they may eventually take to the golf course.

Tee Up In Gym Class

In elementary schools in our community and across the United States, many students are teeing off for the first time thanks to First Tee School Program, bringing our curriculum to your child’s gym during physical education class. By teaching elementary students First Tee’s Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits, we’re putting them on the course to a healthy and active lifestyle. Watch our video to learn more!
